Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club (CMFSC) is one of the province’s largest and most successful community sports organizations - offering both recreational and elite soccer programs to over 3,500 youth and adult players. BC Soccer and the Vancouver Whitecaps recognized CMFSC’s record and standing as a premier club when we were awarded one of eight (8) BC Soccer Premier League franchises earlier this year. The club operates under the stewardship of a volunteer Board of Directors, paid administrative and technical resources and takes great pride in the high professional and business ethics under which it operates as a community-based non-profit.
CMFSC was formed through the merger of two very successful local soccer clubs – the Metro-Ford Soccer Club and Coquitlam City Soccer Association. The two clubs who were both founded in 1984 started working together in the 2005-2006 season and merged officially in 2007/2008. The club boasts an incredible record in developing players, many who have gone on to represent our Province and Country, or compete collegiately or professionally. Our showing at both the Provincial and National Championships continues to demonstrate that Coquitlam Metro-Ford SC is serious about the development of our players and coaches and is striving to put a top level product on the field. Countless local high school graduates have gone on to pursue playing careers at college and university in both Canada and the US.
Our club is committed to excellence and is guided by the following principles and philosophies:
- Soccer for All, Soccer for Life and enjoyment of the game
- Gender equity
- “Player centric, development focus supported by comprehensive, high quality technical programs
- Fair play and values of sportsmanship, leadership and personal development
- Player, coach, officials and volunteer development
- Promotion of the game and growth in participation of the sport
- Community relationships with neighboring soccer clubs and other sports organizations within the Tri-Cities
- Partnership with the City of Coquitlam and Vancouver Whitecaps hosting events for both
- Fostering strong working relationships with the business community to build community support and create financial opportunities
Our play of season is typically from Sept to March with our older teams from U13 and above then participate in Cup play. Teams train twice a week and play on the weekend. Boys are on Saturday and girls on Sunday.
